Jennifer M. Tobias is a second-year doctoral student in mathematics education at the University of Central Florida.  She holds an Ed.M. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Illinois.  She currently teaches mathematics content and methods courses to preservice elementary teachers.  Her research interests include preservice teachers’ development of math content knowledge. 

 

 

For the last 30 years, Dr. Enrique Ortiz has worked as a middle school mathematics teacher, curriculum specialist, supervisor and instructor in Puerto Rico and the U.S.  Since 1989, he has been an associate professor at the University of Central Florida.  He is very active in the mathematics education profession and has presented papers and workshops locally, nationally and internationally, developed curriculum materials, written professional books and articles, taught methods courses, supervised pre-service teachers, participated as a member and chair of thesis and dissertation committees, and conducted grant and research studies.
